Earthquakes. Hurricanes. Locusts. Oh My!

It's been quite a week. And I managed to miss the earth-shaking part of it.

Last week Thursday we got to find out about Part D which, disappointingly, is just Part C to the other side. Oh well... I wasn't quite ready to cram more into my brain anyway.

It's a bit frustrating to not be able to chain together steps when others seem to have no difficulty doing it. *grrr* I need to practice, but I haven't had the inclination to do it. Maybe this evening, since I'm thinking about it.

This week I was in Arizona for work. Temp during the afternoons reached 113F (45C), with the sun so strong I got a touch of sunburn on my ears just walking in from the parking lot. Wednesday there was a magnitude 5.8 earthquake in Virginia that shook my house, though there doesn't appear to have been any damage. Returning home Friday night I had time to go shopping for basics in case hurricane Irene took an unexpected turn. I jokingly asked a friend, "What's next? A plague of locusts?" Walking up my front steps I found the shell left behind when a cicada molts. So, yes, locusts.

I did give some brief thought to finding a dance class in Arizona, but I didn't even bother looking for one. When I go on one of these trips I finish each day exhausted, looking only for food and sleep. Sometimes I don't even bother with the food, especially when teaching on the west cost where my body thinks it's already 9pm before I get to eat.

The result is I missed two classes, didn't practice, and didn't stretch enough. Next week is going to be rough.
