Paying for it now

I knew I should have kept up with dancing while I was traveling.

Earthquakes. Hurricanes. Locusts. Oh My!

It's been quite a week. And I managed to miss the earth-shaking part of it.

Fun with automated translators

When I was something like 12 I took one class in French at the YMCA. It's the only formal training I've had in the language. Trying to figure out how to string together words from ballet books without butchering the language, I decided to feed some phrases through Google's translator.

Google Translate does not speak ballet French.

For example, these phrases:
pas de bourrée dessous de côté. fondu pointe tendue effacée devant.
were translated to:
not filled under side. melted edge tense given way.
Ummm... not exactly helpful!

Part C

Life slowed down enough that I managed to get to yoga Monday night. It was good to get some extra stretching in, although my balance seemed kinda off and I passed on poses like "Standing Stick".

Tuesday was another two-student class. Summer has really taken its toll on attendance. Two of the regulars are out for medical issues, and others are on vacation. Rumor is we're gaining a new student next week.

Has it really been a month?

My apologies to my throngs of followers (ok, more like 6-10). It's that eeeviiill thing called "work" that's kept me from posting. When you're spending 60-70 hours a week slaving over a hot computer, the last thing you want to do in your off time is spend more time with a computer.

That's not to say that I haven't found time for dance classes. I managed to carve out time to make class twice a week for all this time except Thursday two weeks ago when I just couldn't afford the two hours off. Fortunately that project is done, the client ecstatic, and things are returning to what passes for normal around here.
